Curriculum Instruction and Assessment - Staff Devlopment

The Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union is committed to professional development. We believe that it ensures that staff will have the personal confidence, professional competence, content knowledge and a repertoire of strategies necessary to effectively develop and implement the curricula on a continuing basis. The Vermont School Quality Standards define "needs based professional development" as staff development based upon needs identified through an examination of student performance data and related data in alignment with the school / district plan for improving student performance. Across the SVSU, we are convinced that this is the purpose for professional development.

SVSU Local Courses

Throughout the school year, the SVSU offers a number of courses which are free to staff. These courses apply towards recertification, and cover a variety of subjects that many faculty members will find useful in the classroom.
