Molly Stark Elementary School
Molly Stark Elementary School is one of three elementary schools in Bennington. This full service community school exemplifies the spirit of community involvement. People of all ages, backgrounds and experiences learn and work together as neighbors to improve student learning.
We provide:
- An excellent curriculum and instructional program aligned with Vermont standards and grade expectations.
- On site pediatric, psychological, dental, pre-school, outreach, nutrition, counseling, after school and summer school programs that level the playing field for all students.
- An outstanding and caring staff to nurture, challenge and celebrate the minds of all students, no mater where they are on the learning continuum.
- A family atmosphere to welcome everyone as active participants in the educational process. Important points to know about Molly Stark:
- Getting your concerns addressed should never be a problem. Please start with the staff person “closest” to your concern. For educational issues the first contact will usually be your child’s teacher. Should you feel that the problem was not addressed to your satisfaction, please stop in or call the assistant principal or the principal. It is important to us that your concerns be handled as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
- The most important thing a parent can do to ensure success at school is to make sure that the child is in school every day. Tardiness creates gaps in your child’s learning process.
- The school must know how to reach a parent or guardian during the day at all times. An accident or an emergency may occur that necessitates immediate contact. Emergency information forms are provided to each family at the start of the year. Should your personal information (address, phone numbers, etc.) change during the school year, please contact the school to update your child’s emergency sheet.
- All parents are expected to attend Parent-Teacher conferences at least twice during each school year. It is critical for a parent to know how the child is progressing in school. It is equally important for the child to know that the most important adults in his/her life communicate and care about his/her schoolwork.
- Physical aggressiveness, bulling and harassment, inappropriate language and dress, as well as refusal to follow staff directions are not tolerated.
- Changes in transportation plans must be forwarded to the school in writing in a timely manner; telephone calls regarding transportation changes cannot be accepted for security reasons.
